“A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
I discovered Original T-Bags Design during my visit toCape Town in December 2018. While visiting the city with my friend Anaïs, we stopped by this innovative store in the V&A Waterfront. The quote above just got me… then we start seeing all this amazing art all over the place, breathtaking! Peggy, the lady in charge of the store recommended us to visit the workshop in the Townships, so we did.
When we arrived to the Original T-Bag Designs shop, of course we were offered tea. We watched a video (available on their website too) and had the opportunity to visit their workshop and see the amazing people that work there and their creations.
It was, and it is very inspiring to me. Since the Wellbeing Project was already on the way, I thought what a great opportunity to get to help people in that side of the world. I met Jill Heyes the “T-Bag Lady”, an incredible woman who brought to life this project.
The Original T-Bag Designs shop has transformed the life of many people in the Imizamo Yethu Townships, they are now able to take care of their families, bring food to the table, provide education for their children, etc.
So, I ask you to keep your tea bags from now on, dry them and when you have collected a lot, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will find a way for you to get them to me. As soon as we collect a big amount, I will prepare them and ship them directly to Cape Town, South Africa so they can become art pieces.
I want to become a supporter of this great project, what about you?
Where there’s tea, there’s hope.
